Dear Parents, Guardians, & Families of THS Students,

Each year the Thunderbird Theatre Department continues to offer countless students the chance to experience the magic of the Theatre Arts. Through our program of classes, field trips to live performances, workshops with professionals, fall plays, spring musicals, and in-class productions the lives of many THS students have been changed for the better.

The Thunderbird Theatre Department continues to work to help make a difference in the lives of hundreds of children every year. Each and every student involved with this department, both on stage and behind the scenes, is offered opportunities to express their emotions and use their talents in a positive manner that keeps them off the streets, out of trouble, and results in their contribution to the Thunderbird community and its traditions.

Every year, over 200 students are on stage and over 70 other students work backstage on Thunderbird’s theatre productions.   In addition, the department takes 50+ students to Disneyland or Universal Studios to partake in theatre workshops with experienced theatre professionals currently working for Disney or in the film industry.

However, outside funding and donations are the only way will be able to continue our tradition of large-scale productions and workshops that offer these opportunities to our students.  For instance, after costumes, sets, programs, posters, props, and royalties, our spring musical productions consistently cost the department well over $5,000 to produce.  With the opportunities they give the over 200 students involved in each of our musicals, these productions are well worth every penny.  Though our tickets sales are constantly high, we rarely break even or make a profit on our productions.  Therefore, we are asking for your assistance to make these opportunities possible for Thunderbird students in the future.

Today, you can make an immediate difference in the funding available by making a tax deductible donation to the THS Theatre Department.  Each tax credit donation you send provides the department with opportunities to produce larger shows and go to more workshops that offer a greater number of students the chance to shine and develop their talent, be it on or off the stage.
