
Thunderbird continues to retain the title as the number one JROTC overall Drill Unit in Arizona for the 3rd year. Our Color Guard, Drill Team without Arms, and Drill Team with Arms participated in the “Desert Classic State Drill Meet” last Saturday with outstanding results. The competition included 28 teams from the best JROTC Units in Arizona. The day was marked by intense competition but, after all was said and done, Thunderbird finished 1st of the 28 units participating. Team and Individual trophy awards included:

1st place - 4 Person Unarmed Exhibition Drill – Commanded by Ryan Abbott

1st Place – Challenge Color Guard - Commanded by Amanda Walden
3rd Place – Varsity Color Guard - Commanded by William Alford
Individual Awards:
Ruth Mavashev placed 2nd in the Unarmed Drill Down Competition and Gage Payne placed 3rd in the Armed Solo Competition.
