Two Thunderbird High School students have received national recognition for their work in their student newspaper, The Challenge.  Editor-in-Chief and senior Katie Binkley and sophomore staff writer Miranda Motsinger each won Gold Keys in the Quill and Scroll Journalism Honor Society's recent International Writing and Photo contest.  The Gold Key recognizes the top 5 percent to 7 percent of entries in each of 12 categories, including editorial writing, news writing, individual in-depth reporting, advertisement and sports writing.  Binkley was recognized for her editorial, "Policy Derived From Hate, Fear Shuns America's Bravest" while Motsinger was awarded for her editorial "Factual News Falls in the Face of Beck and Bloggers."  Both students are eligible for $500-$1500 scholarships.
